One morning, a man wakes up to discover that he has been transformed. During the night, Anders’ skin has turned dark, and the image returned to him by the mirror is that of a stranger. At first, he only shares his secret with Oona, an old friend who has just become his lover. Soon more cases of similar events begin to be known. Everywhere, people wake up a new person, not knowing how their family, friends and neighbors will receive them. Some see these transformations as a reversal of the established power, to which they must oppose resistance. Many others, like Anders’s father and Oona’s mother, are torn between a feeling of loss and unease and one of deep love.
