How does one without a father learn what a father is supposed to be? That’s the question David Kosobucki tries to answer in Fatherless Reflections on the Fatherhood of God. Kosobucki never knew his biological father; in fact, his father’s name isn’t even listed on his New York birth certificate. He discusses how the lack of a father and stable father figure in his life contributed to a negative effect on his relationship with God as Father, specifically leading to a lack of trust and confidence that God will provide, protect, guide and help in a time of need.
Though he is still learning, Kosobucki now believes God can be trusted, and he has learned to look at God as the best Father anyone could have. Throughout the book, he explores our relationship with God as Father, Christ’s relationship to his Father and what we all can learn from it, no matter how stable our childhood father or father figure. Now a husband and father himself, Kosobucki is the Provost of Horizon University in Indianapolis and pastor of Horizon Central CityWay Church, a church in downtown Indianapolis that he helped start in 1998.
