Lauren is a great little sister. She’s funny, sweet and playful. Only when other kids talk about her does our narrator realize Lauren’s Down Syndrome makes her different. Being Lauren’s sister is sometimes complicated. Our narrator feels concerned and protective, but also jealous of the attention her sister receives. And nothing makes her angrier than seeing other kids make fun of Lauren. In the end, though, she realizes she was right about Lauren all along-she’s just a great sister and best friend. This book can help preschoolers and young readers learn about Down Syndrome and about accepting everyone for who they are.
