The Slow Wave is the story of Bud Turner, who takes a break from his college studies and travels to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, for some fun in the sun. There he meets Bev, who becomes his girlfriend, and he welcomes a new life at the beach.
Bud gives up his studies to become a lifeguard, quickly joining the rebellious beach crowd, which includes lifeguards, hangers on, and wealthy young idlers.
When tragedy strikes, Bud rethinks his life and makes a major decision that changes his life.
